To better reflect our evolving research strengths and foster specialised academic growth, the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology (ABCT) has been restructured into two new departments—the Department of Chemistry (CHEM) and the Department of Life Sciences (LS) from 1 July 2026. Building on the strong foundation of ABCT, LS embarks on an exciting new chapter at the forefront of scientific discovery and innovation.
LS offers comprehensive academic programmes across all levels of higher education. Its research initiatives are organized around five areas: computational biology and AI-enhanced drug discovery, disease elucidation with advanced molecular chemical biology, advanced biotherapeutics, cancer vaccines and immunotherapy, and structural biology. Equipped with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, the Department is fully committed to nurturing talent and driving impactful biomedical innovation.
Please visit our website for more information about our research areas and programmes.
Life Sciences
Biological research within the department covers a wide spectrum, from the molecular to the cellular and to the organism levels, with the aim of tackling some of the most important and challenging issues in biological research today. A full list of our biological research areas can be found herein.
