Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies

The Hong Kong SAR Government has set up the Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS) to attract meritorious local students to pursue further studies in areas of strategic priority for the development of Hong Kong. The eight priority areas are:

1.  [STEM]: Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)

2.  [Digital]: Digital transformation and innovation 

3.  [Financial]: Hong Kong as an international trading and financial centre 

4.  [Law]: Law, dispute resolution and intellectual property trading Law

5.  [Cultural]: East-meets-West cultural exchanges and humanities

6.  [Creative]: Creative industries

7.  [Health]: Healthy living and caring community

8.  [Sustainable City]: Sustainable city and regional development

 

Scholarship

The scholarship awardees are required to pay a minimum tuition fee being the prevailing rate of the UGC-funded full-time degree programmes (i.e. HK$44,500 for 2025/26 academic year and HK$47,000 for 2026/27 academic year). The differences will be subsidised by the scholarships subject to a cap of HK$100,000 for each student, regardless of the actual study period of the programme and mode of study.

 

Eligibility

1.  Local students are admitted to the approved programmes listed below.

2.  Students awarded a scholarship under the Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme (TPgFS) are not eligible for the FTSS.

 

Selection

Selection of scholarship awardees will take into account the following factors:

  • Academic achievements
  • Professional qualifications
  • Relevant working experience and achievements in other areas
  • Personal statement [i.e. plans and commitment to contributing to the relevant priority area(s) of Hong Kong and joining the relevant industries/sectors and staying in Hong Kong (or the Greater Bay Area) after graduating from PolyU].
