In this lecture, Irving Cheung, Video Director and Production and Costume Designer from Hong Kong will share practical insights on:

This lecture will be conducted in Cantonese and will run for approximately 1.5 hours, led primarily by Irving Cheung, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session moderated by Prof. Brian Kwok, Leader of the Information Design Lab and Programme Leader of BA Information Design.

This lecture is open to PolyU staff and students, and is part of the Information Design Lecture series. No registration is required. Seating is available on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

Irving Cheung has studied in Belfast, Berlin and London since the age of 11. She graduated from the University of the Arts London, Chelsea College of Art, with a fine arts degree in 2005.  Cheung further completed a Master of Fine Art in RMIT University Melbourne in 2017. Over the last 20 years, Cheung has worked as a film worker, collaborating with many well-known directors.  Her talent has earned her six nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards in the categories of Best Art Direction and Best Costume Makeup design in the last decade. Some films that contributed to such recognitions include Rigor Mortis (2013), The Empty Hands (2017), Tracey (2018), Table for Six (2022) and Time Still Turns the Pages (2023). In recent years, she has expanded her artistic pursuit to directing TV commercials and short films, which have received international recognitions and awards.  She has been doing directing work in TV commercials, music video and short films.  Her first directing feature film “Fine Dying” is in the middle of prep production, it is fund by First Feature Film Initiative.
