Entry Scholarships

Entry scholarships are available for outstanding admittees based on academic or non-academic achievements. Please visit Admissions webpage for details and further enquiries on scholarships offered to local (HKDSE) and international students as well as 内地应届高考生.

 

Post-entry Scholarships

From time to time, a number of private organisations, firms, professional bodies and individuals donate to PolyU scholarships and prizes which are awarded to students with outstanding academic and/or non-academic achievements (such as achievements in extra-curricular activities and community services) during their studies at PolyU. Most of the scholarships/prizes are awarded to undergraduate students and the awardees are normally nominated by School of Design. A limited number of scholarships/prizes are open for application by students or nomination by academic departments via SAO. Please refer to the schedule of inviting application/nomination for details.

The Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies

Entry Scholarship

A limited number of entry scholarships, up to HK$80,000 are available to both local and non-local applicants with excellent academic achievements.

Bursary

A limited number of bursaries, amounting to HK$26,400, are available to local applicants.

Application

The School will invite applicants to apply for Scholarship or Bursary during the portfolio submission period.

PolyU reserves the right to change or withdraw the scholarship/bursary at any time. In the event of a dispute/disagreement, PolyU's decision is final.

Multiple PhD financing options are possible, as outlined below. Each type of funding has specific application criteria, funding support structures, and submission deadlines. Candidates are advised to study the possible funding schemes in detail and determine what suits their personal situation best. All questions regarding these schemes are to be directed to the funding organisation, except where mentioned otherwise.

Funding Scheme 1: PolyU Research Postgraduate Scholarship (PRPgS)

  • Monthly stipend based on School Research Committee’s discretion and approval
  • Allowances for research-related activities
  • Provision of Cash Award

  • Monthly stipend based on School Research Committee’s discretion and approval
  • Allowances for research-related activities
  • Provision of Cash Award
  • A guaranteed hall place for 2 years

Funding Option 4: Self-financed Applications

Students with adequate funds can apply under the ‘Self-financed’ track, within deadline each year.

Funding Option 5: Other Funding Sources

Depending on their circumstances, applicants may be eligible to apply for sponsorship from other governmental and private scholarships and other funding schemes. Students should inform themselves about what potential schemes might be applicable for them.
For application purposes, such students are considered as self-financed (please indicate in the application what governmental / private scholarships / other funding scheme will be used to support your studies).

Tuition Waiver for Local RPG

Starting from 2018/19 academic year, the Government would provide tuition waiver for all eligible local full-time students enrolled in UGC-funded RPg programmes.
