Connecting with Dean of Students

This September, the Outstanding Student Academy (the Academy) warmly welcomed new members to the Executive Committee (ExCo) during a gathering with Interim Dean of Students, Prof. Horace Mui, on 12 September 2025, at the Wong Man and Tang Kit Wah Global Student Hub. In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Mui celebrated the unique backgrounds and experiences each student brings and emphasized that the Academy serves as a bridge to connect students and inspire others through their impactful stories.

Miss Joyce Cheung, Section Head of Student Resources and Support, introduced the Academy’s mission and upcoming initiatives. ExCo President for 2024/25, Wang Yanze Steve from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, shared his inspiring journey, reflecting on memorable experiences such as the Breakfast with Dean of Students and the enriching learning trip to Vietnam and the Greater Bay Area. In addition, Chong Hung Lee Helen from the Department of Building and Real Estate, the ExCo President for 2025/26, talked about her experiences at PolyU and her vision for the Academy’s future.

We were also delighted to hear from Chan Ren Ai from the School of Accounting and Finance, who joined the Vietnam and Greater Bay Area trip, sharing the meaningful cross-border friendships she built in Vietnam. Cheung Tsz Lok Kelvin from the Department of Computing and Lau Burgundy Ann from the School of Fashion and Textiles, both of whom have received numerous scholarships, discussed their personal growth during their time at PolyU.

The afternoon was filled with inspiration, reconnection, and a shared commitment to positively impacting our university community. We look forward to an exciting year ahead!
