EAGLE Global Youth Leadership Programme

The EAGLE Global Youth Leadership Programme (the Programme) has been dedicated to nurturing a new generation of leaders who embody Ethics, Aspirations, Globality, Leadership, and Excellence. Built on these core values, the Programme empowered students to make a positive impact in a rapidly changing world, fostering integrity, vision, and purpose.

The Programme was first launched in the academic year 2023/24, and offered a flexible and inclusive structure, students were allowed to participate as Seekers, Explorers, or Adventurers—each path tailored to different levels of commitment and personal growth. Through a holistic and experiential approach, participants engage in thematic workshops and training sessions covering project and crisis management, intercultural competence, ethics in leadership, social innovation, design thinking, co-creation, local social engagement, and leadership development.

EAGLE the Adventurers has been a one-year advanced leadership development scheme designed to nurture well-rounded global youth leaders with an innovative mindset and strong ethical values. Learn more about their journey and achievements!

A Journey of Leadership and Global Citizenship

2023/24 Cohort: Innovation and Impact in Nepal

During the academic year 2023/24, 23 passionate students embarked on EAGLE the Adventurers. These students received comprehensive leadership training and led self-designed social innovation projects, applying design thinking to address community challenges in Nepal.

During their transformative expedition, they collaborated with Nepali students and the local community to co-create sustainable solutions, demonstrating ingenuity in utilising local resources. Their projects, focused on environmental and hygiene issues, are now being sustained by the community, reflecting the lasting impact of their efforts. This experience sparked profound personal growth, especially in ethics, leadership, and global outlook, inspiring participants to pursue a sustainable future through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.

Beyond nurturing future leaders, EAGLE also enriches PolyU’s international presence, strengthening ties with new Belt and Road countries.

2024/25 Cohort: Empowering Global Leaders and Creating Lasting Change

EAGLE the Adventurers 2024/25 continued the EAGLE legacy, uniting a diverse PolyU student community and exemplifying leadership ethics, global citizenship, innovation, and aspiration. The journey began with immersive workshops on the UNSDGs, intercultural competence, and a leadership training camp, fostering teamwork, resilience, and a global perspective. Sessions on ethics, social innovation, and design thinking empowered students to develop moral character and creative solutions to real-world challenges.

Additional training with World Vision Hong Kong was included to prepare the Adventurers' social innovation projects for Nepal. Supported by ongoing workshops and collaboration, students built lasting friendships and deepened their understanding of global issues.

The Nepal expedition was a highlight, offering life-changing experiences such as:

  • World Vision International Nepal & the BRiCKK Project: Students learned about safeguarding policies and witnessed local solutions in action, inspiring reflection on the SDGs.
  • United Nations House Visit: Insights into Nepal’s socio-economic challenges and SDG localisation from UNDP and UN Volunteers.
  • Chinese Embassy in Nepal: Ambassador CHEN Song discussed China-Nepal relations and local projects, while students presented and received feedback on their social innovation ideas.
  • Tarun Secondary School Collaboration: Co-developing practical solutions—including solar-powered fans, oil filtration systems, and tech-driven soap dispensers—to improve hygiene and sustainability for over 1,800 students.

This immersive experience fostered resilience, empathy, and leadership, leaving a lasting impact on both the local community and the EAGLE team.

Celebrating Every EAGLE Participant

EAGLE’s achievements are shaped by the collective efforts of all participants, whether attending workshops, training camps, or joining as Adventurers. Each student contributes to the programme’s spirit and impact.
