Vietnam and Greater Bay Area Trip 
(Cultural Exchange X Sustainability Exploration)

On 2 to 9 June 2025, 32 delegates from Outstanding Student Academy, STARS Residential College (RC), and I-peers had a fruitful learning trip organized by the Student Resources and Support Section (SRSS) of Student Affairs Office.

Led by Professor Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), Professor Geoffrey Shen, Associate Vice President (Global Partnerships), Professor Horace Mui, Interim Dean of Students, and Miss Joyce Cheung, Section Head (SRSS), the delegation visited Ton Duc Thang University and University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. Not only did the students from PolyU and Vietnam share perspectives on green policies to gain valuable insights, but they also connected and built friendships through an interactive solar car DIY workshop, ice-breaking games and singing performances!

Beyond cross-cultural networking, our delegations also immersed themselves in Ho Chi Minh City’s vibrant culture through exploring its unique art and history.

The Guangzhou journey, led by Mr Liu Sing-cheong, JP, Outstanding PolyU Alumni Awardee cum University Fellow, featured visits to innovative enterprises, architectures, and Haizhu National Wetland Park, deepened students’ global citizenship via exploring the sustainability and urban development of the Greater Bay Area. We visited The He Art Museum, Fei Architects, and its innovative borderless community project – Zini 12 Gates to learn about the inspiring approaches to sustainable urban renewal and contemporary design.

We were also engaged in the sharing by Mr Chiang Kar Wah, a renowned Hong Kong photographer and gourmet about his professional journey and the advice about maintaining perseverance in the face of challenges.

We wrapped the journey with the sharing section from students about the trip to enhance the learning experience and prepare for our next rewarding trip!
