As the Interim Dean of Students, I am honoured to present the 2024/25 Annual Highlights from the Student Affairs Office (SAO). This publication reflects our unwavering commitment to equipping PolyU students with the skills, knowledge and resilience necessary to thrive in a fast-evolving world.

Throughout my time at SAO, I have been consistently impressed by the remarkable dedication of our team and the enthusiasm of our students, which together foster a vibrant campus community that prioritises personal growth and academic excellence. Our commitment to student success is exemplified by our PolyU Sports Teams, who achieved the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China Grand Slam title for an impressive seventh consecutive year.

To enhance the sense of belonging and national pride among PolyU students, the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team recruits new members annually. This initiative provides students with invaluable experience and broadens their horizons through exchanges, and by their participation in competitions and educational tours.

In our pursuit of providing enriching student experiences, we have launched The Outstanding Student Academy, which offers ongoing support and development opportunities for recipients of the Outstanding Student Award and the Presidential Student Leadership Award throughout their university journey. Additionally, we organised three Dean of Students Talks, facilitating meaningful interactions between esteemed speakers and students on topics ranging from sports and mentorship, to the Two Sessions, enabling students to gain diverse insights.

Our focus on personal and professional development has been further demonstrated through innovative programmes such as the EAGLE trip to Nepal which provided participants with a rich cross-cultural experience and the "INSPIRE" Mentorship Programme which has been playing a crucial role in expanding students' perspectives and facilitating their personal growth. Meanwhile, student representatives on University committees and those to provide feedback to institutional services have been empowered to voice student concerns, creating a vital link with the broader student community.

Recognising the importance of student psychological and physical well-being, we implemented a series of wellness activities as part of the PolyU Positivity Project and the Sports Festival 2025. These initiatives, centred around gratitude and positivity, have significantly enriched our students’ daily lives.

As we look to the future, our mission remains clear: to empower our students to excel academically, embrace challenges and become leaders who positively impact society. Together, we are building a foundation for a brighter tomorrow, inspiring generations to come.
