Successful SCRI Distinguished Lecture on Remote Sensing Image Processing from Classical Approaches to AI-supported Approaches (只有英文版本)

On 17 December 2024, the Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Smart Cities Research Institute (SCRI) successfully hosted a Distinguished Lecture titled "Remote Sensing Image Processing from Classical Approaches to AI-supported Approaches". The seminar featured Professor Yun Zhang from the University of New Brunswick, Canada.

Research Institute for Smart Ageing (RISA) and the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) were honoured to have Dr. Lanning Tian, Chairwoman of the Zhongguancun SSIDC Smart Health and Senior Care Industrial Alliance as the speaker of the research seminar titled “Addressing the Intergenerational Digital Divide in China: Progress, Challenges, and the Need for Inclusive Design and Social Regulations”, which took place on December 12, 2024 at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

RCRE: ReACT2024 successfully held (只有英文版本)

The 1st International Conference on Research and Application of Carbonation Technology for Wastes and Concrete (ReACT2024) was successfully held from 11 to 14 December 2024 on PolyU campus. The Conference was jointly organized by the Research Centre for Resources Engineering towards Carbon Neutrality (RCRE) and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of PolyU together with the Solid Waste and Eco-material Subcommittee of the Chinese Ceramic Society. The Conference attracted more than 270 academics, researchers, industrial professionals, government officials and postgraduate students from all over the world, including Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mainland China, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and United States.

On 9 December 2024, Prof. Xiangrong WANG, Director and Distinguished Professor, Centre for Urban Eco-Planning & Design, Fudan University, China, delivered an online Public Lecture titled “Urban Ecological Security and Green Development”. This lecture was co-organised by the Research Institute of Land and Space (RILS) and the Research Centre for Nature-based Urban Infrastructure Solutions (RNUS) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The 4th International Symposium of Water Disaster Mitigation and Water Environment Regulation cum the 14th South China Sea Tsunami Workshop were successfully held in Hong Kong from 29 November to 2 December 2024. This joint event was co-organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Sichuan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development (RISUD), Research Institute for Land and Space (RILS), and supported by IAHR-HK Chapter, IAHR-China Chapter and relevant government departments of Hong Kong SAR.
