PolyU and NUAA Renew MoU to Deepen Collaboration in Aerospace Research and Talent Development

On 22 September 2026, a delegation led by Prof. Jiang Bin, President of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The delegation was warmly received by PolyU representatives, including Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President; Prof. Christopher Chao, Senior Vice President (Research and Innovation); Prof. Cao Jiannong, Vice President (Education); Prof. Zijian Zheng, Vice President (Knowledge Transfer); and Prof. Wang Zuankai, Associate Vice President (Research). During the meeting, Prof. Christopher Chao welcomed the NUAA delegation and highlighted PolyU’s latest progress in talent cultivation, research and innovation, knowledge transfer, aerospace technology, and the development of its research platforms on the Chinese Mainland. Prof. Jiang Bin provided an overview of NUAA’s academic strengths, distinctive research focus, and research achievements in the aerospace and low-altitude economy sectors. The two institutions reviewed their fruitful collaboration built over the years through previous agreements, joint research initiatives, and the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance. They also explored further synergies in strategic areas such as aerospace, smart manufacturing, advanced materials, artificial intelligence and low-altitude economy. Following the discussions, witnessed by university representatives, Prof. Jin-Guang Teng and Prof. Jiang Bin signed the renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of PolyU and NUAA respectively. The renewal marks a significant milestone in elevating bilateral cooperation to new heights and deepening long-term strategic synergy between the two institutions. Looking ahead, PolyU and NUAA will further leverage their complementary strengths to drive impactful research in aerospace and related cutting-edge fields, contributing to the nation’s technological advancement and aerospace development.

Yangzhou Municipal Government Delegation Visits PolyU to Explore Collaboration in Aviation Talent Development and Research

On 31 August 2026, Mr Chen Jun, Vice Mayor of Yangzhou, led a delegation from the Yangzhou Municipal People’s Government on a visit to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, PolyU President; Prof. Cao Jiannong, Vice President (Education); Prof. Yu Hongyu, Executive Director of the PolyU Aerospace Research Academy; Prof. Wen-Hua Chen, Head of the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering; Prof. Liu Ai-Qun, Director of the Research Institute for Quantum Technology; Prof. Simon Lee, Associate Director of the PolyU-Wuxi Technology and Innovation Research Institute; and Prof. Lu Haitian, Director of Mainland Development. The two sides exchanged views on aviation talent development, academic exchange and frontier research collaboration. During the visit, the delegation first met with representatives of the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering (AAE). Prof. Wen-Hua Chen, Head of AAE, introduced the Department’s latest developments in teaching and research, while Vice Mayor Chen Jun shared an overview of Yangzhou’s development. The two sides also explored potential collaboration in aviation education and research. Following the meeting, the delegation toured the Aviation Services Research Centre (ASRC), the Aviation Engineering Laboratory and the University Gallery to learn more about PolyU’s development and achievements. The visit enhanced mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in aviation and related frontier disciplines.

PolyU and Guangzhou Medical University Renew MoU to Deepen Collaboration in Healthcare Education and Research

On 23 July 2026, a delegation led by Prof. Zhao Xingcun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Guangzhou Medical University (GMU), visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU, together with other PolyU representatives. During the visit, the two sides held in-depth discussions on medical education, research collaboration, student exchange and international cooperation, and renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), laying the groundwork for further practical collaboration between the two universities. During the meeting, the presidents of the two universities shared updates on the latest developments of their respective institutions and reviewed the achievements of their collaboration over the years. Since 2015, PolyU and GMU have established a solid foundation for cooperation in areas such as rehabilitation, medical laboratory science and nursing. The two universities have continued to promote student exchange, summer programmes, research practicum and professional training, with their partnership growing steadily over time. The signing ceremony was an important part of the visit. Witnessed by representatives of both sides, President Jin-Guang Teng and President Zhao Xingcun signed the MoU, renewing the partnership between PolyU and GMU. The renewed MoU reflects the two universities’ shared commitment to building on their existing collaboration and further advancing cooperation in student development, joint research, medicine-engineering integration, and related areas, particularly in fields such as medical laboratory science and rehabilitation. Following the signing ceremony, the GMU delegation visited PolyU’s AIR Lab to learn more about the University’s latest developments in cutting-edge technology and interdisciplinary applications. Looking ahead, PolyU and GMU will take this renewal as a new starting point to deepen exchanges and collaboration, and to contribute jointly to innovation in medical education, the advancement of healthcare, and the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

PolyU and Dongguan University of Technology sign MoU to promote design education and industry innovation collaboration in the Greater Bay Area

On 22 June 2026, a delegation led by Professor Zheng Yu, Vice President of Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT), visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The delegation was warmly received by Professor Daniel Shek, Associate Vice President (Undergraduate Programme); Professor Kun-Pyo Lee, Dean of the School of Design; Professor Henry Duh, Associate Dean (Global & Industry Engagement) of the School of Design; and representatives of the Mainland Development Office. During the meeting, the two universities introduced their latest developments and explored future directions for collaboration. Professor Daniel Shek shared PolyU’s latest achievements in talent nurturing, research and innovation, knowledge transfer and interdisciplinary development. He emphasised PolyU’s longstanding commitment to closely aligning academic research with societal and industry needs, while actively driving the translation and application of innovative research outcomes. Professor Zheng Yu introduced DGUT’s recent progress in developing into an application-oriented research university, advancing internationalisation and optimizing its disciplinary planning. He also highlighted how the University’s International School of Design is positioned to support Dongguan’s manufacturing upgrade, digital transformation, and regional industrial needs. The MoU signing ceremony was an important part of the visit. Witnessed by Professor Daniel Shek and Professor Zheng Yu, Professor Kun-Pyo Lee, and Professor Xu Yanzhuan, head of the International School of Design of DGUT, signed an MoU on behalf of their respective universities. The signing of this MoU marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the two institutions. Looking ahead, PolyU and DGUT will leverage this new milestone to advance practical cooperation and explore further synergistic opportunities.

Mayor of Taian, Shandong Province, Leads a Delegation to PolyU

On 20 May 2026, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) welcomed a delegation from the Taian Municipal People’s Government of Shandong Province. The delegation was led by Mr Li Guoqiang, Deputy Party Secretary of the Taian Municipal Committee, Mayor of Taian and Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Taian Municipal Government. Professor Wing-tak Wong, Deputy President and Provost of PolyU, along with Professor Geoffrey Shen, Associate Vice President (Global Partnerships), warmly received the delegation. As an innovative world-class university, PolyU has made significant progress in university rankings, discipline development, talent cultivation, and research achievements in recent years. During the meeting, Mayor Li Guoqiang spoke highly of PolyU’s profound academic heritage and its robust contemporary development. Capitalising on Taian's rich cultural and tourism resources and PolyU's academic strengths, representatives from both sides—including those from PolyU's School of Hotel and Tourism Management and the Faculty of Humanities—engaged in in-depth discussions on industry-academia-research collaboration in the field of cultural tourism. The visit of the Taian delegation marks a new milestone in the close collaboration between PolyU and local governments in Shandong Province. Looking ahead, both parties will fully leverage PolyU’s strengths in research and talent, along with Taian’s solid industrial, cultural and tourism foundations, joining hands to contribute to the Nation’s development.

Tsinghua University Delegation Visits PolyU to Forge New Pathways for Elite Talent Cultivation

On 4 May 2026, Professor Qiu Yong, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, Chairman of the Tsinghua University Council, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The delegation was warmly received by Professor Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, alongside the University’s senior management and distinguished scholars. During the visit, the two universities held a meeting at the PolyU and signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to jointly pioneer a new "Integrated Bachelor-PhD/ MPhil Programme" model. Prior to the signing ceremony, the two sides held a high-level meeting. Attendees from Tsinghua University included Professor Qiu Yong, Professor Yang Bin, Vice Chairman/ Vice Chancellor of the Tsinghua University Council; Ms Xiao Qian, Deanof Office of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs and various department representatives. Representing PolyU were President Jin-Guang Teng; Professor Zijian Zheng, Vice President (Knowledge Transfer); Mr Cheung Leong, Vice President (Administration and Development); Professor Geoffrey Shen, Associate Vice President (Global Partnerships); Professor Wang Zuankai, Associate Vice President (Research); as well as representatives of relevant faculties and departments. Witnessed by President Jin-Guang Teng and Secretary Qiu Yong, Professor Bu Siqi, Associate Head (Research) of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at PolyU, signed the MoUs for the "Integrated Bachelor- PhD/ MPhil Degree Programme" with Professor Shen Yuan, Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering; Professor Sun Kai, Associate Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering; and Professor Li Zhengcao, Vice Dean of Weiyang College at Tsinghua University. The signing of these agreements marks a deep integration between the two universities in the engineering fields of electronics and electrical engineering, as well as interdisciplinary cultivation in basic sciences. Through this scheme, both universities will pool resources to create a seamless pathway from undergraduate to postgraduate studies, cultivating globally competitive research talent. Looking ahead, Tsinghua and PolyU will move forward in lockstep in their shared pursuit of excellence.

PolyU and Fuwai Hospital Sign MOU to Co-create an Innovative Ecosystem for Lifestyle Medicine

On 25 March 2026, a delegation from the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Fuwai Hospital) visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The two institutions officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish deep cooperation in interdisciplinary education, joint talent cultivation, collaborative scientific research, and knowledge transfer. This partnership integrates PolyU’s comprehensive interdisciplinary system with Fuwai Hospital’s world-class clinical resources to drive advancements in lifestyle medicine, fostering an “Medicine-Research-Industry” integration model that contributes to the "Healthy China" initiative. Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU, and Prof. Wing-tak Wong, Deputy President and Provost, led the PolyU representatives in warmly receiving the delegation. Prior to the signing ceremony, both parties held a high-level meeting to explore future strategic collaborations. The visit featured a highly productive itinerary. On the morning of 25 March, organized by the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences (FHSS), a thematic symposium on Lifestyle Medicine was held. Experts and scholars from various units participated, including the PolyU Academy for Artificial Intelligence (PAAI), Department of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems (IWEAR), Department of Health Technology and Informatics, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Nursing, Department of Applied Social Sciences and School of Optometry. On the morning of 26 March, the delegation toured various PolyU laboratories and facilities, including the Cave Automatic Virtual Environment, the Biomarker Discovery Laboratory (under University Research Facility in Life Science), the Food Science and Nutrition Research Laboratory and Demo Kitchen, the Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology Laboratory, the ReST Hub, and the Optometry Clinic. These visits provided the delegation with a firsthand look at PolyU’s robust R&D capabilities, technical expertise, and advanced experimental facilities across diverse fields.
