There is an anatomical structure in the human brain that naturally protects the occurrence of a stroke – it is called the Circle of Willis (CoW), which ensures blood supply to the brain in times of emergency. However, only around 20% to 25% of people have a complete CoW. The rest of us have incomplete CoW, which heightens the risk of ischemic strokes. In the clinic, transcranial color-coded Doppler (TCCD) can assess the CoW. However, the use of TCCD has not been used widely because there is a shortage of well-trained and experienced sonographers familiar with its operation and interpretation. TCCD also takes much time to complete. A low doctor-to-patient ratio also limits its use. SonoStroke, a smart assessment software empowered by artificial intelligence, automatically tracks and identifies blood vessels in the brain. It automatically generates a medical report at the end of the process, highlighting blood vessels that have not appeared yet or a high flow velocity, which can be used for evaluating the risk of stroke.
