Utilising computer vision and illuminating optical fibres, intelligent textile is designed to recognise hand and body gestures and change its light colour instantly. The patented design and technology transform conventionally passive fabrics into interactive textiles for dynamic customisation of environments and products. The intelligent textile system is based on deep learning with computer vision and illuminating photonic textiles. Being an offline system, it requires low computational power and has the ability to work anywhere. It detects gestures from the images captured by the integrated camera and deciphers the image via a selfbuilt Euclidean distance-based gesture recognition algorithm. Upon recognition of the pre-programmed gestures, the system will provide immediate feedback by changing the colour illumination.
