To help the University community get ready for using Canvas, a new learning management platform, a series of introductory workshops is arranged for both students and teaching staff.
The student workshop will introduce the key features of Canvas, including:
- Using the Canvas mobile app
- Navigating course materials
- Checking instructor communications through Announcements
- Viewing assignment deadlines in the Calendar
- Submitting assignments
- Accessing grades and feedback
- Participating in Discussions to learn with classmates
The instructor workshop will cover the core course functions and tools in Canvas, including:
- Organizing course materials by unit, topic, or teaching week to guide students through learning pathways
- Managing assignments and quizzes, tracking student progress, and providing feedback using Gradebook
- Communicating with students through Announcements and Discussions
- Customizing course navigation, adding teaching assistants, and configuring course settings
- Creating student groups and personalizing learning journeys based on assessment performance
