New record set: Six top achievers with 5*/5** in five subjects admitted to ITC

Six high-calibre students with top scores in this year's Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination have been admitted to the BA (Hons) Scheme in Fashion and Textiles. One of the students scored 32 in the five best HKDSE subjects, which set a new historical high.

PolyU has most impressive academic footprint among 1000 textile schools worldwide

ITC conducted an evaluation which benchmarked textile schools worldwide in terms of textile-related research publications. The related paper, “A comparative analysis of textile schools by journal publications listed in Web of ScienceTM” has been published by The Journal of The Textile Institute.

Prof. Xiaoming Tao recipient of 2020 Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award

This is a prestigious award that acknowledges Chinese engineering science and technology experts who have made important contributions and outstanding achievements in the related fields.

HK$10M funding for ITC researchers from Innovation and Technology Fund and General Research Fund

The funded projects include investigating antiviral and antibacterial clothing and facemask, biofeedback system for adolescents with early scoliosis, skin-like water repellent fabric, fiber-based thermoelectric generators, and many more. 

Prof. Chi-wai Kan and team develop reusable isolation gowns that sustain 30 washes

Prof. Chi-wai Kan and his team has developed a reusable isolation gown that can maintain 90% of its antibacterial effect after 30 washings. The reusable gown can resist virus and bacteria like COVID-19, Escherichia coli., Staphylococcus aureus and H1N1.



Visit of Dr the Hon. Victor Lo, Honorary Chairman of PolyU Court

ITC welcomed a visit from Dr the Hon. Victor LO Chung-wing, Honorary Chairman of PolyU Court on 28 Sept 2020. Dr Lo is the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Hong Kong–listed Gold Peak Industries (Holdings) Limited.

Profs. Jintu Fan and Jason Choi host online research seminars

ITC organised two online research seminars in July 2020 so that interested individuals would have the opportunity to be better acquainted with the ongoing research of different professors and discuss their work with them.

ITC Summer Internship 2019/20

The Programme was initiated in 2017 with the aim of enriching the learning experience of students through local or overseas on-the-job training. This year, six companies in retailing, manufacturing and buying offered intern positions to 13 ITC students.



PolyU Fashion Show 2020 – Showing creative flair in fashion design

ITC introduces an online e-brochure, compiles the collections of graduating students and the self-introductions of the finalists of the annual show.

ITC Graduation Exhibition 2020

The exhibition at The Fashion Gallery, featuring 25 graduates’ collections, has been extended until 11 November 2020.

Knit Your Emotion" Knitwear Exhibition

Through the exhibits and short video, the exhibition reveals how knitting can help people to relieve stress and get rid of negative mood.

Simran Gulati recognized as Millennium Fellow and Campus Director

Simran Gulati was recognized by the Millennium Campus Network and the United Nations Academic Impact as a Millennium fellow and a Campus Director at PolyU in the summer of 2020.

ITC alumnus Enzo Chan launches his first crossover collection at JOYCE

Enzo Chan (BA 2020), winner of the Hong Kong Young Designers’ Contest, developed a capsule collection under the mentorship of JOYCE Boutique.

Sammie Wong, recipient of Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2020

Sammie Wong has been recognized as one of the four outstanding students at PolyU who have received a scholarship of up to HK$150,000.
