Summer internship enriches students’ learning experience through local or overseas practical training, which lay the ground for applying their practical experience to their final year projects or preparing for their future practice in the industry. Students will have more opportunities to pursue academic excellence and receive international exposure.

  • Duration: minimum 7 weeks on a full-time basis during the summer term (June - August)
  • Location: Hong Kong, China, Asia, Europe or America (subject to the PolyU policy on COVID-19)
  • Students can apply for a maximum of 3 positions
  • Double fulfillment - The summer internship experience can be counted towards WIE and also a credit-bearing subject under the BA and BSc programme: Professional Attachment (ITC3221G)
  • Companies are expected to provide a mini-project, which enables the student intern to connect classroom theory with workplace applications during the programme
  • Student interns are closely monitored by subject lecturers through email, telephone, personal consultation, progress report and final report
PolyU offers pre-internship and pre-departure workshop/briefing to assist students in preparing for successful completion of the programme.

ITC Professional Training Workshops (Deadline: 13 May 2022 5pm HK Time)

 

For students applying for the ITC Summer Internship Programme and the 3-credit bearing elective subject of ITC3221G#, please complete the Training Record 2022 and submit to ITC General Office (Room QT715) or by email to tcintern@polyu.edu.hk no later than 4 Jun 2022.
# Students who would like to register ITC3221G should attend a minimum of 4 workshops (or 10 hours equivalent) and a mandatory pre-departure workshop in May 2022. Workshops organised by Student Affairs Office are also counted.Details can be found here.
PolyU offers two types of sponsorships to student interns:

1. Overseas Work-integrated Education Sponsorship (OWS), covering both passage and subsistence allowance, for non-local student interns

Students should submit the application form and relevant supporting documents to ITC General Office no later than 31 March 2022 (1st round) or 6 May 2022 (2nd round) or 17 June 2022 (final round) . All applications will be screened carefully. Eligible students will be nominated by ITC for further processing. Late applications will not be entertained.

2. Faculty’s Sponsorship for Internship Enhancement Programme (SIEP) - Sponsorship for all student interns to support their daily expenses such as passage, accommodations, meal, etc during the programme. A maximum of HK$5,000 and HK$10,000 is granted to local placement and overseas placement respectively.

Eligibility:
  1. Minimum number of hours of internship is 120 hours
  2. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above (including the First Semester in Year 2020/21)
  3. Nominated by Head of Department or delegate
  4. Complete at least 2 FAST Professional Training Workshops, equivalent to 5 hours in total
