DALS Academic Development Fellowship Expands Global Perspectives

The Faculty’s DALS Academic Development Fellowship continues to support Doctor of Applied Language Sciences (DALS) students in engaging with the international academic community through conference participation and scholarly exchange.

Recently, Fellowship recipients Phoebe Liao, Quincy Jia, and Queeny Cheng attended academic conferences where they presented their research, connected with scholars worldwide, and gained valuable perspectives beyond their areas of study.

Phoebe and Quincy participated in the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) Conference where they took part in discussions with leading researchers and fellow doctoral students from diverse backgrounds. Through conference sessions, scholarly exchanges and networking opportunities, they broadened their understanding of current developments in applied linguistics and strengthened their connections with the internation research community.

Queeny attended the International Conference on GenAI and Pedagogical Innovations in Higher Education (GaPI), where she presented her research and engaged with educators and researchers from local and overseas institutions. The experience deepened her understanding of emerging trends in higher education and enhanced her confidence as a researcher and presenter.

Reflecting on their experiences, the students highlighted the value of international engagement in expanding their perspectives, fostering professional growth, and creating opportunities for future collaboration. The Faculty looks forward to seeing more DALS students in engaging with the global academic community through the Fellowship.
