From Awareness to Action: Strengthening Teachers’ Feedback and Pedagogical Readiness. AIinLT 2026 International Summit on the Use of AI in Language Learning and Teaching. Department of English and Communication, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Education Bureau (EDB), and the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR), Hong Kong, 21-24 June 2026.

Abstract
As generative AI (GenAI) integrates into education, teachers need learn to use it critically, confidently, and pedagogically. Targeting secondary language teachers and researchers, this workshop explored how to transition GenAI from a known tool into a confident, responsible partner in writing feedback. Drawing on three recent studies, the session demonstrated that targeted training enables GenAI to enhance feedback quality and support personalized student growth, especially when combined with professional teacher judgment. Participants analyzed GenAI- and teacher-generated feedback, practiced prompt design, and discussed ethical classroom integration. By bridging research and hands-on activities, the workshop empowered educators to move beyond basic tool mastery. Ultimately, it helped teachers develop the critical awareness and instructional judgment needed to transform GenAI potential into meaningful classroom action and enhanced their pedagogical readiness in AI-supported environments.
