Admitted to BA(Hons) in Chinese and Bilingual Studies in 2016

Erica1You might feel a bit puzzled when it comes to studying language-related courses in Hong Kong, but after I came here, it just blew my mind. In PolyU, the people you meet are all the best students in their countries. When we take culture-related courses and have discussions in class, you will discover many different knowledge from various countries and cultures, and at the same time, it is also a great opportunity for you to introduce Taiwan to the others. In addition to your peers coming from different places, the professors also come from different parts of the world and with different backgrounds. As long as you are willing to take the initiative to ask questions, the professors will be more than happy to provide valuable advice to you. To be honest, the biggest difference between studying language in Hong Kong and Taiwan is that, here in PolyU, we focus on practical skills. You are not required to study literature unless you are interested in it. Alternatively, you will learn about something practical like translation, linguistics, effective communication…and so on. All the classes are conducted in English. I believe that it is not easy to step out from your comfort zone, but as long as you are willing to give it a try, your horizons will truly be different, and I guarantee that you will not feel regret.
