Objectives

The competition aims to provide participants with:

  • A good understanding of the significance of business education in the digital age
  • Hands-on experience of using technologies to solve real-world business problems

  • An understanding of the disciplines of studies offered by the Faculty of Business, PolyU, also known as PolyU Business School

 

Eligibility

We encourage local and non-local students who are in the following years of studies in 2025/26 to join our Competition in teams:

  • Secondary 4 or 5
  • Grade 10 or 11 (US System)
  • Year 11 or 12 (UK System)     
  • Senior High School Year 1 or 2 in the Chinese Mainland

Important note:

  • Students will form teams of 2 - 5 members. A student cannot join more than one team. There is no limit on the number of teams / students from one school.
  • Those with limited or no tech and/or business background are also welcome

 

Application

  • Participation will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A confirmation email will be sent on or before 29 May 2026.

Programme

The Competition requires teams to develop technology-enabled solutions to tackle a business challenge. The Competition is planned as follows:

  • Training on applications of latest technologies will be provided.
  • Teams will be provided with a business challenge and they are required to submit a proposal for solving the challenge concerned at the final stage of the Competition.
  • Finalists will present their solution prototypes to a panel of judges.

 

Competition Rules

  1. Participants are not allowed to change the composition of their team during the Competition.
  2. If a team member is sick or otherwise unable to participate, the team may submit a one-time request to PolyU Business School (PBS) at fb.marketing@polyu.edu.hk by 25 Jun 2026 to replace or remove the member concerned. Requests submitted after this date will not be accommodated. Team with fewer than two members must forfeit.
  3. Participants should arrive at all venues on time according to the rundown.
  4. All participants must be present during the entire Competition, complete all assigned tasks, and participate in final presentations in order to be eligible for the prizes/certificates of participation.
  5. Participants must follow all competition rules and instructions from PBS. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
  6. Participants should contact PBS immediately if they have any questions about the competition rules.
  7. In case of disputes, the decision of PBS shall be final.

 

Prizes and Recognition

In light of the large number of participants, the updated prize details are highlighted in yellow as follows:

Champion HKD 20,000 and a certificate of award
1st Runner-up HKD 10,000 and a certificate of award
2nd Runner-up HKD 5,000 and a certificate of award
Merit (4 Awards) - Final Pitching HKD 1,500 and a certificate of award
Merit (7 awards) - Semi-finals HKD 1,000 and a certificate of award
  • All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
  • Awarded team(s) will be invited for media interview.
