Background

Organised by the PolyU Business School, with PolyU Business School Case Centre, Federation of Hong Kong Brands (FHKB)Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), FHKI Education Committee, Golden Bauhinia Women Entrepreneur Association (GBWEA) and MEMO PLUS PR & CONSULTANTS as supporting organisations, the PolyU Business School Case Competition brings together outstanding business students from local universities. It provides a dynamic platform to sharpen business acumen, strengthen analytical thinking, and broaden global perspectives by applying academic theories to real-world business challenges.

Judged by a panel of industry professionals, the competition also offers students a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, faculty and business leaders.

 

Eligibility

Each university may nominate one team of four full-time undergraduate students to represent their institution.

 

Competition Format

  • Teams will be informed of their preparation and presentation time slots during the Opening Ceremony.
  • Teams will receive the business case at their designated time slot. They will then have three hours to develop a solution and prepare their presentation.
  • Presentations will be evaluated by a panel of industry professionals.

Champion HKD 12,000 and Certificate of Award
1st Runner-up HKD 8,000 and Certificate of Award
2nd Runner-up HKD 5,000 and Certificate of Award

Please note that the rundown may be adjusted if necessary. Any updates will be communicated promptly to participants.

 

  1. Individual teams will:
    1. Have three hours to develop a solution and prepare presentation materials for the business case provided.
    2. Be supervised by a designated PolyU Business School (PBS) representative and provided with the following items:
      • Markers: red x 2, blue x 2, black x 2
      • Ball pens (blue) x 4
      • Pencils x 2
      • Highlighters x 4
      • White A4 paper x 40
      • Basic calculator x 1
      • Rulers x 2
    3. Handwrite their presentation materials on A4 paper and submit them by the specified time. No modifications will be allowed after submission.
    4. Use the visualizer to display their presentation materials.
    5. Have 20 minutes for the presentation, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.
  2. To ensure fairness, the following items are not allowed:
    1. Electronic devices (phones, tablets, notebooks, PDAs, etc.)
    2. Personal reference materials
    3. Personal stationery
  3. All team members must:
    1. Participate at least once during the presentation to be eligible for prizes or certificates.
    2. Discuss the case only with their team members during the preparation and presentation sessions.
  4. Teams may not change their composition during the competition.

  5. If a team member is sick or otherwise unable to participate, teams may continue with a minimum of three members. Teams with fewer than three members must forfeit.

  6. Participants should arrive at all venues on time according to the rundown. Late arrivals will not be granted extra time.

  7. Teams that do not start their presentations within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time will be disqualified.

  8. PBS reserves the right to adjust preparation and presentation times if necessary.

  9. Participants must follow all competition rules and instructions from PBS. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

  10. Participants should contact PBS immediately if they have any questions about the competition rules.

  11. In case of disputes, the decision of PBS shall be final.
