PolyU has achieved a significant milestone in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 by Subject, rising from 37th last year to 25th globally in Business and Economics. This accomplishment also positions PolyU as the top-ranked university in this subject area in Hong Kong.

| Awardees at the Prize Presentation Ceremony |
A case series developed by the PolyU Business School Case Centre (PBSCC) has won second prize in the 2025 Global Contest for the Best China-Focused Cases, organised by the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

The case series, titled ‘Citychamp Watch and Jewellery Limited: The Corum Conundrum’, was one of 16 prize-winning submissions. Co-authored by PBSCC Director Dr Justin Law, Prof. Nancy Su from the School of Accounting and Finance, Prof. Anthony Pang from the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, Dr Pamsy Hui from the Department of Management and Marketing, and Prof. Shimin Chen of CEIBS, the case series has been accepted into the CEIBS global platform of China-focused case studies at ChinaCases.org.
The contest promotes the teaching and research of management issues and business practices from a global perspective. In 2025, it attracted 413 submissions from 172 schools and institutions globally — a 20% increase compared with the previous year.

The School of Accounting and Finance (AF) received the Merit Award at the Investor and Financial Education Award (IFEA) 2025 for its project ‘Financial Literacy Education to LowIncome Communities’.
The award, organised by the Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC), recognises impactful initiatives that advance financial literacy and investor education in Hong Kong.
The project builds on a service learning subject that promotes financial literacy among low income communities. Working with local schools, NGOs, and community organisations, the project delivers practical financial literacy education while fostering social awareness, responsibility, and community engagement.

Prof. Richard Leung Tim-chiu, Professor of Practice (Finance) at the School of Accounting and Finance, has been conferred the title of University Fellow by PolyU in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the University and the wider business community.
An accomplished finance professional and leader, Prof. Leung brings over three decades of distinguished experience at some of the world’s leading financial institutions. He is also a dedicated community servant committed to empowering youth.
Prof. Leung served as a PolyU Council Member from 2016 to 2024, contributing to the University’s financial health through key roles on multiple committees. He currently serves as a PolyU Court Member and sits on the International Advisory Committee of the Research Institute for Future Food. Beyond the University, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orion Astropreneur Space Academy, where he actively supports Hong Kong’s commercial space ecosystem.

Prof. Michael Bond from the Department of Management and Marketing received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Conference for Chinese Psychologists, held in Shenzhen on 27–28 March 2026.
The conference was co-organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and CUHK–Shenzhen, and hosted by the Division of Applied Psychology at CUHK–Shenzhen’s School of Humanities and Social Science.
