Prof. Wu is a Professor (Non clinical) in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. After graduating from PolyU’s Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy programme, he pursued further training in pharmacology and medical sciences, establishing a distinguished career in biomedical research. He has made notable advancements in several fields, including cancer biology, host-microbe interactions, and pain neuroscience. His research focuses on understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of gastrointestinal cancers, investigating host-microbe interactions, and identifying novel targets for pain treatments. Prof. Wu has published over 390 peer-reviewed papers and has a h-index of 77 (Web of Science). Among these publications, 99 have appeared in journals with an impact factor above 10, including Cancer Cell, Cell Host & Microbe, Science Translational Medicine, Annals of Oncology, and Gastroenterology. He was named a Highly Cited Researcher in the Cross-field category (2024) by Clarivate Analytics. He is also active in the wider professional community.
