Profiles of EIE recipients

Ir Dr Barry Mok Kwan-tat received his Bachelor’s and Master of Philosophy degrees from PolyU in 2009 and 2013 respectively. He currently serves as the Assistant General Manager at Arc Health Technology Limited, a state-recognised high-tech enterprise specialising in designing, developing, and manufacturing medical devices. Dr Mok oversees the operations of the company’s research and development centre in Hong Kong as well as the production plant in Shenzhen. As a prolific researcher and the proud owner of six patents, Dr Mok has published over 20 journal and conference papers, cited by other scholars over 600 times. Dr Mok has played a pivotal role in the development of various medical devices, including non-invasive surgical robotics, AI-assisted colonoscopes, FDA Class II-certified physiologic monitoring systems, and electrocardiogram wearable sensors for military use. He has also served as a Co-opt Committee Member of the Biomedical Engineering Division at The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, steering the development of the biomedical engineering industry and promoting awareness within the community.

Dr Tan Fengze, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Shenzhen Metalenx Technology Co. Ltd., earned his PhD degree from PolyU in 2020, the same year when his company was founded. His high-tech enterprise specialises in metalens design, manufacturing and development of related application systems. With its own intellectual property rights in metalens, alongside mature metalens design theories and manufacturing technologies, the company has launched several metalens product series for optical instruments, augmented and virtual reality devices, garnering much market success. Dr Tan’s efforts have also driven the rising popularity and mass production of metalens products while facilitating the commercialisation of metalens. He is also named one of the Overseas High-Calibre Personnel in Shenzhen, and an X·36Under36 S-class Young Entrepreneur.
