Professor Lin is a Professor in the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science at Peking University, and the head of its ZERO Laboratory and the Center for Machine Learning, Institute of Artificial Intelligence.

Prof. Lin earned his MPhil degree from PolyU in 1997 and PhD degree from Peking University in 2000. Focusing on researches related to machine learning, numerical optimisation, computer vision and image processing, he has published three books and over 230 peer-reviewed papers in top journals and conferences. According to Google Scholar, his works have been cited over 23,000 times with an h-index of 65. Being the area chairman of countless trade conferences, such as CVPR, ICCV, NIPS/NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI and IJCAI, he is currently a Programme Co-Chair of ICPR 2022 and a Senior Area Chair of ICML 2022. Once an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, Prof. Lin currently serves as an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Computer Vision and Optimization Methods and Software. A Fellow of IEEE, IAPR, and CSIG, he received many accolades including Distinguished Young Scholars by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the First Prize of CCF Natural Science Award.

Mr Joseph LIN Pui-keung

Business Development Leader, Corporate Affairs, Greater China, Cisco

Mr Lin is currently Business Development Leader for Corporate Affairs of Greater China, Cisco Systems, responsible for developing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnership and collaboration projects with governments, education institutes, NGOs, and industry partners. Devoted to promoting STEM education and nurturing ICT talents in secondary schools and tertiary institutes within Greater China, he has developed and led a flagship CSR programme – Cisco Networking Academy – for over 20 years. Since 2000, more than 1 million students from over 300 schools have benefitted from this programme. An ardent volunteer in youth activities organised by NGOs, Mr Lin was a Steering Committee Member of the Girls Go Tech Programme organised by The Women Foundation (TWF), and the Chairman of Cisco Innovation Challenge, Hong Kong District. Sharing the best CSR practice with senior Chinese government officials in the 21C Leadership Program, Mr Lin was honoured with The Partnership of Excellence Award from the Ministry of Education, China. With his profound expertise and experience, Mr Lin has been an External Member of PolyU’s Departmental Advisory Committee since 2016, offering valuable advice to the Department of Applied Mathematics with respect to academic programmes. He is also a dedicated mentor supporting students of PolyU, HKU and HKUST.

Ms LEE Ka-yi

Professional Squash Athlete, Hong Kong Sports Institute

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Investment Science and Finance Analytics (2016)

 

Ms Lee began her formal training as a squash player at the Hong Kong Sports Institute and has been a professional athlete since 2014. She is among the Hong Kong squash team, ranked within top 50 in the world and has been representing Hong Kong in various local and overseas competitions.

In 2018, Ms Lee and her team won Hong Kong’s first-ever gold medal in Women’s Squash Team in the Asian Games, and a bronze medal at the WSF Women’s World Team Championship. She also won championships in China International Squash Elite Competition 2019, and the 14th East Asian Squash Team Championships 2019 in Tokyo. In 2021, she was the first runner-up at the 20th Asian Team Championship. As a member of PolyU’s squash team, she was a champion of The University Sports Federation of Hong Kong USFHK Women Squash Championship from 2012 to 2016.

In recognition of her outstanding achievements in international squash competitions, Ms Lee was awarded Medal of Honour by the HKSAR Government.
