Ir Wong is currently the General Manager, Technical Services Systems at the Airport Authority Hong Kong, overseeing the engineering and maintenance operation of airport systems. Upon graduation from PolyU in 1995, he started his career at the authority and contributed to the design and construction of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) at Chek Lap Kok. 

Ir Wong has accelerated HKIA’s digital transformation into a smart airport city by spearheading the adoption of innovative technologies. He advocated the creation of a digital twin of HKIA using 3D modelling for a virtual digital replica that simulates the design, construction, management and operation of airport facilities.

Ir Wong is passionate about serving the professional community. He has sat on the Advisory Committee of PolyU’s Department of Electrical Engineering, Committee on Building Information Modelling of the Construction Industry Council, Appeal and Disciplinary Board of CIC’s Certification of BIM Personnel and Accreditation of BIM Course Schemes, Admissions, Budgets and Allocations Committee of the Community Chest, and CLP’s Local Customer Advisory Committee.

Dr Li is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Goal Technology (Shenzhen) Company Limited. Goal Tech is a nationally recognised high technology enterprise with certification from the Innovation Center under the Ministry of Science and Technology, China. 

Based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, the company hires an R&D team of 50 members with 60% of them holds either master’s or doctoral degrees. Goal Tech focuses on the R&D of key components in the field of advanced semiconductor packaging and testing, owning 73 invention patents and having published more than 100 papers of international calibre. Its original invention, linear rotary motor, is the world’s first high-precision motor that realises both linear and two-dimensional rotary motions within a single shaft, with linear accuracy of 1um, rotational accuracy of 0.01 degree, and force control up to 0.01N.

For his entrepreneurial acumen, Dr Li has won many awards, including 30 Under 30 Elite List by Forbes, the C-category Talent of Shenzhen Entrepreneur Program, and the U30 Entrepreneurial Elite by Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology in 2021.
