Biography

Dr. Pauli P.Y. Lai is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She earned her BEng (Hons) in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and both MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from The University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Lai is passionate about advancing innovative pedagogies and integrating technology to transform learning experiences, with a particular focus on leveraging AI and educational technologies to enhance teaching methodologies. She has led numerous teaching and learning projects, securing cumulative funding of over HK$4.6 million. Her research interests include interactive pedagogies, e-learning technologies, AI in education, and service-learning.

In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Dr. Lai has received numerous awards, including the Faculty Merit Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching (Team) in 2018/2019 as Team Leader, the eLearning Forum Asia (eLFA) Exemplary Teaching and Learning Silver Award in 2022, the Faculty Merit Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching (Individual) in 2022, the Faculty Outstanding Teacher Award in 2024, and the eLearning Forum Asia (eLFA) Community Outreach Silver Award in 2025. Her interdisciplinary team also earned the Gold Award in the Smart Omnichannel Campus category and the Global Education Award at the 2024 QS Reimagine Education Awards—widely regarded as the “Oscars” of the education sector.
