EEE Summer Study Tour 2025/26

This summer, the EEE Department embarked on a 10-day Czech Study Tour. This immersive academic and cultural programme, which took place from 19 to 28 August 2025, was led by Prof. K.A. Lee and Mr. Ivan Lau, with a total of 29 students participating. During the tour, the group visited the Brno University of Technology (BUT), one of the most prestigious technical universities in Central Europe. There, they attended lectures and hands-on sessions in cloud computing, computer vision, cybersecurity, machine learning, and speech processing. The itinerary also included cultural visits to Prague and Brno, with sightseeing activities at historic landmarks. Students reflected that the tour not only enhanced their understanding of European technology and culture but also helped them broaden their global perspectives. Czech Study Tour Video

EEE Research Postgraduate Student Orientation

The RPg Orientation was held on 11 September 2025, welcoming over 70 newly admitted research postgraduate students for the 2025/26 academic year. Organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), the session provided students with an opportunity to connect with faculty members and begin their research journey. Prof. C.Y. Chung (Head of Department), Prof. L.P. Chau (Chair of the Departmental Research Committee), and Prof. Kenneth Lam (Director of Research Postgraduate Studies) were present to share departmental updates, outline key study milestones, and introduce the support systems available to RPg students. Chief Supervisors were also invited to attend, reinforcing the collaborative foundation of postgraduate research and setting the tone for a productive academic experience ahead.

PolyU EEE Research Student Conference (PRSC)

Celebrate the success of the PolyU EEE Research Student Conference (PRSC)! Prof. C.Y. Chung, Head of Department, and Prof. Bashir Al-Hashimi from King's College London both gave speeches at the conference. As part of the PolyU EEE Department's initiative to foster academic exchange, this conference provided an opportunity for RPg students who have received conference support to share their work with their classmates. EEE Staff Retreat

The Staff Retreat was held in the Hotel ICON on 23 May 2025. The Retreat provided a platform for academic and teaching staff to collaborate and exchange views on key areas, including student engagement, research, teaching and learning, and publicity. Dr K.P. Mark and Mr Kenneth Tam of the Educational Development Centre were also invited to share about Outcome-Based Education this year. Through this annual gathering, more innovative and inspiring ideas are discussed to drive the Department’s future growth and development.
