IET/MATE 2017 Competition

8 May 2017

Students of the Engineering Club developed the underwater robot – Upstream and participated in the Hong Kong Underwater Robot Challenge 2017. This competition also serves as the regional competition for the 2017 MATE International Underwater Robotics Competitions.

Our team includes students from all years as well as other departments.  Led by members who participated in the ROV competition in previous years, based on experiences gained, the team enhanced the ROV built in 2016 for this year’s competition. Instead of using pneumatic, two robotic arms driven by DC motors were designed and built. The arms perform well in executing different tasks.

After months of hard work, the team was awarded with the 1st Runner-up for the 2017 Hong Kong competition. The Department would like to congratulate the students and wish those team members, Tony, Jasmine, who are graduating in June every success in their future endeavor.
