Biography

Prof. You DONG is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His primary research focuses on risk, resilience, and sustainability-informed assessment, and life-cycle intelligent maintenance of assets, particularly in the context of deterioration, hazards, and climate change. Additionally, Prof. Dong’s research group specializes in data-driven computational models, physics-guided deep learning, and digital twin-enabled intelligent maintenance. Their recent applications emphasize civil infrastructure, transportation networks, cyber-physical systems, and interdependent infrastructure systems. Prof. Dong serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Structural Engineering, Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities, Engineering, Advances in Structural Engineering, etc. He is also a member of the Editorial Board for Structural Safety, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, among others. Prof. Dong has received several prestigious awards, including the “IASSAR Early Achievement Research Award”, “IALCCE Junior Award”, the “Young Award for the IABMAS” from the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS), and recognition as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University.
