Biography

Prof. Songye ZHU received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Structural Engineering from Tongji University, China, and his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, USA. He is currently a full professor and Interim Head in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His major research interests lie in the fields of smart and resilient structures, structural control and monitoring, and renewable energy structures. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal papers and holds nine patents. His research has received numerous international awards from different professional societies and publishers. He is serving as Editor of Advances in Structural Engineering, and Associate Editor of ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, Structural Control and Health Monitoring, and International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials. He is also the Past President of American Society of Civil Engineers – Hong Kong Section.
