Ms. Iris Lam, Assistant Professor of Practice

Ms. Iris Lam is currently Assistant Professor of Practice of the Speech Therapy Unit in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from The University of Hong Kong and qualified as a speech therapist. She later received her Master of Arts in Guidance and Counselling from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

 

Upon graduation, Ms. Lam joined the Hospital Authority to provide communication and swallowing assessment and training to clients with neurological disorders such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia. She has clinical experience in different settings, including acute hospital, out-patient clinic, old age home and geriatric day hospital. Ms. Lam later worked as a speech therapist in a special school, where she specialized in training children with multiple handicaps and severe intellectual disability. Ms. Lam currently focuses on clinical speech therapy education, supervising student speech therapists’ clinical practicum.

 

Ms. Lam is a Full Member of The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists. She is also a certified provider of Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation, Guardian Dysphagia Therapy, and Oral Placement Therapy (Level 2).

 

Ms. Lam is fluent in Cantonese and English.
