The 2026 PolyU Info Day was successfully concluded on 10 October 2026, garnering over 3,000 interested students and parents. We here at the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering (BEEE) have provided visitors a glimpse into the world of building service engineering, providing a comprehensive overview in our academic curriculum, career prospects, as well as the latest advancements in our field.
Our Interactive Consultation Booth
Under the leadership of the Head and Associate Heads of BEEE, our academic staff and dedicated student ambassadors played an instrumental role in welcoming visitors at our consultation booth. They answered enquiries about our programmes and career opportunities, and showcased our innovative teaching and learning approaches, alongside student experiences including Work-Integrated Education (WIE) and exchange programmes.
In addition, visitors at our interactive game booths could apply their knowledge to win attractive souvenirs and have a go at our BEEE claw machine. The enthusiasm and expertise of our professors and students, alongside our engaging game stations, helped students and parents gain a deeper insight into our academic offerings and future career prospects.
Our Research Project Showcases
One of the highlights of the Info Day was our showcase featuring AI robots and VR. Visitors were able to experience our cutting-edge research and development projects. We demonstrated various research prototypes in Building Services Engineering, including integrated autonomous and teleoperated robots for fire rescue, interactive virtual platforms for building operation management, and innovative window films. These demonstrations illustrated the synergy between safety and building science. Visitors showed strong interest in our projects, and many engaged in lively discussions with our team. The showcase also sparked interest among secondary students and their parents in exploring study opportunities within our Department.
Laboratory Tours: A Glimpse into the Cutting-Edge
Two guided laboratory tours were arranged, offering visitors an exclusive view of our state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories, including the HVACR Laboratory and Piped Services Laboratory. These tours provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of Building Services Engineering at PolyU.
Information Seminars and Alumni Sharing
The Undergraduate Info Seminar was run in two sessions, featuring Dr Hilda Cheung, Undergraduate Programme Leader, who delivered an overview of our programmes and their distinctive offerings. Each session also included an inspiring alumni sharing segment. Two of our BEEE Outstanding Alumni awardees, Ir Brian Cheng and Ir Jonathan Lee, shared their experiences, career journeys and practical advice for students and parents. They offered valuable insights into the industry and their professional development. The two seminars received tremendous support. The afternoon session was fully booked, with queues formed outside the venue.
