On 14 October 2026, the Alumni Reading Club and the Alumni Culture and Heritage Tours Club brought alumni together for a journey spanning futuristic visions of AI and Hakka cultural heritage.
Returning to their alma mater’s Library, alumni first met with Mr Chen Qiufan, a renowned Chinese science fiction writer. Drawing on his book AI 2041: Ten Visions for Our Future, he shared insights into the relationship between artificial intelligence and science fiction, and discussed how technological innovation may shape society and everyday life.
As part of the “Greater Bay Area Hakka Cultural Joint Showcase” presented by the PolyU Chinese Culture Festival, alumni then participated in the “Zhongxin Lantern” Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop, where they tried their hand at lantern painting, couplet writing, and lantern assembly. They also visited an exhibition on the history, culture, and prominent figures of Hakka in the Greater Bay Area.
It was an inspiring experience for everyone. Stay connected with the Alumni Interest Clubs for more events to come.
