As the highlight of “PolyU Alumni Week”, the PolyU Alumni Appreciation Reception was held on 29 August 2026. More than 100 guests attended, including President Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, members of the University’s senior management team, deans and representatives from various faculties and schools, Outstanding PolyU Alumni, directors of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations, alumni association leaders, mentors from mentorship programmes, and alumni volunteers.
President Teng delivered welcoming remarks to the guests. On behalf of the University, he expressed his sincere gratitude to PolyU members who have actively supported alumni affairs. He also shared an overview of the University’s recent achievements and previewed activities for PolyU’s 90th anniversary celebrations. He looked forward to continuing to work hand in hand with everyone to empower the University to scale new heights.
The Alumni Affairs Office launched its new WhatsApp Channel on the same day. President Teng, together with Prof. Cheung Leong, Vice President (Administration and Development), Dr Laura Lo, Associate Vice President (Institutional Advancement), and other members of the University leadership, officiated at the launch ceremony, jointly marking the new platform’s official debut and further strengthening close connections with the alumni community.
During the appreciation reception, alumni representatives from different groups went on stage for group photos. Guests also enjoyed a rap performance by alumna Naomi Yeung and a live music show by the student band The PolyArts. The atmosphere was warm and lively, with participants reconnecting with one another while tasting healthy desserts developed by PolyU. Many also joined in the games and received exclusive souvenirs. Everyone left with fond memories of the occasion, eagerly anticipating more gatherings in the near future.
