Ms Yip has played a key role in advancing the professional recognition of optometrists as President of The Hong Kong Association of Private Practice Optometrists, Chair of the Task Force on the Mandatory CPD Scheme of the Supplementary Medical Professions Council, and a Member of Hospital Governing Committees under the Hospital Authority. She has contributed to policy development in areas such as direct referral rights and integration into primary care, and has helped establish mentorship programmes to support the next generation of practitioners. She has also been active in promoting children’s eye health and other public health strategies related to childhood myopia. She led the implementation of mandatory continuing professional development schemes, helping to raise standards across the profession. Her contributions have been recognised both locally and internationally through her leadership roles on regulatory committees and participation in international professional forums. Ms Yip maintains a strong relationship with PolyU, serving as a Visiting Clinical Associate in the School of Optometry since 2001 and as an External Member of the Departmental Advisory Committee since 2024. She also established the Queenie Yip Scholarship for Overseas Student Exchange Programme, demonstrating her commitment to student development.

Since joining the School of Optometry as an Assistant Professor, Prof. Leung has helped advance optometry education from a primarily technical focus to a more holistic, people-centred approach. His teaching philosophy emphasises empathy, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration, preparing students to become compassionate healthcare professionals. He has led the development of patient-centred clinical tools and initiated large-scale collaborations with education professionals, providing essential eye-care services to over 450 children with special needs. His contributions have been recognised through major awards, including the 2025 University Grants Committee Teaching Award (Early Career) and multiple teaching excellence awards at both School and Faculty levels. Beyond his teaching and research, Prof. Leung has supported interdisciplinary collaboration and delivered university-wide workshops to promote pedagogical innovation. His community outreach and commitment to student development continue to significantly strengthen PolyU’s reputation and impact.
