The Outstanding Alumni Award of the PolyU Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering recognises our distinguished alumni who have made exceptional contributions to the University and the wider community through achievements in their respective fields.

 

We are now inviting nominations for the 2026 Awards. Help us celebrate the success and dedication of our AAE alumni!

Eligibility

 

The Nominee: The nominated candidate must be a graduate who has successfully completed a full-time or part-time programme offered by PolyU (or its forerunners: Hong Kong Government Trade School, Hong Kong Technical College, and Hong Kong Polytechnic) which led to an academic award accredited by the respective Institution.

The Proposer: Nominations can be submitted by PolyU graduates, Honorary Graduates, University Fellows, PolyU staff, PolyU Council and Court members, and Advisory Committee members.

Note: There is no limit to the number of nominations submitted by each proposer. However, self-nomination is not permitted.

Please complete the nomination form and submit the following documents to aae.info@polyu.edu.hk by the nomination deadline.

 

  1. A completed nomination form (download here)
  2. A high-resolution photo of the nominee
  3. Supporting documents, including a current CV of the nominee

 

Late submission will not be considered.

 

Selection Criteria

 

The Award Selection Committee will assess candidates based on two primary criteria:

1. Support and Contributions to PolyU

This criterion considers the nominee’s active support and contributions to the University. This includes:

  • Leadership and/or support in University events and alumni activities.
  • Service on advisory committees.
  • Contributions to teaching, research, or student development.
  • Support rendered to PolyU initiatives, including financial/in-kind donations or sponsorships.

 

2. Achievement Areas

Nominees will be assessed on their achievements within one of the following three frameworks:

  • Professional Achievement: Recognises alumni who have attained distinguished achievements, demonstrated exemplary leadership, and made a strong impact on their profession, industry, or society.
  • Entrepreneurial Achievement: Recognises alumni who have demonstrated outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as founded or advanced business or technology ventures with measurable impact.
  • Scholarly Achievement: Recognises alumni scholars who have made notable scholarly or research contributions in their disciplines, backed by a proven track record and excellent reputation in the field.

 

Note: The bestowal of the award shall be subject to the individual merits of the candidates. No award will be given out in a certain category if no suitable candidate is identified.
