On 17th September 2025, a symposium focused on youth student work was jointly organised by the Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies and The Arete. This event aimed to enhance the understanding of youth student initiatives in Hong Kong and facilitate an exchange of ideas and best practices.
The symposium gathered representatives from various institutions, including the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R., The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Lingnan University. Participants engaged in discussions about the implementation of patriotic education, value education, and the teaching of the Constitution and Basic Law in schools, while also addressing challenges and proposing directions for improving curriculum design. This collaborative effort highlighted PolyU’s dedication to instilling civic values and fostering a sense of national identity among young people.

By focusing on patriotic and value-based education, participants aimed to empower students to become responsible citizens in a rapidly changing world.
