On 3 October 2025, the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team gathered for a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival and Welcome Lunch at the Alumni Atrium, an event designed to celebrate both the cherished festival and the arrival of new members. The event began with participants standing solemnly to sing “Ode to the Motherland” (《歌唱祖國》), a powerful expression of their shared love and pride for the nation that set the tone for the day.

The event began with heartfelt opening remarks from Prof. James DAI, Associate Dean of Students, who warmly welcomed the new members. His words resonated deeply, fostering a sense of joy and camaraderie among all attendees. Following Prof. DAI, ZHU Hao, a representative from the Flag-Raising Team, captivated the audience with his speech, sharing personal insights and experiences that highlighted the importance of unity and commitment within the team.

As the event unfolded, old and new members introduced themselves, laying the groundwork for lasting friendships. An ice-breaking game sparked laughter and interaction, further enhancing the sense of community.

The highlight of the event was the performances that showcased the diverse talents within the team. Members delighted the audience with hip hop, Xinjiang dance, and enchanting melodies from the Chinese bamboo flute. The atmosphere reached new heights when spontaneous invitations led to impromptu singing, adding to the joyous spirit of the celebration.

As the event drew to a close, it was evident that the gathering had successfully strengthened the bonds among team members. Filled with laughter and joy, the day reinforced their commitment to patriotism and a collective aspiration to make a positive contribution to both the nation and the broader PolyU community.
