University Blood Donation Marathon 2023/24 @PolyU attracts 294 participants
As one of its ongoing societal commitments, the PolyU Student Affairs Office co-organised the University Blood Donation Marathon 2023/24 @PolyU. Co-organised with the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service and held between 4 and 6 October, the three-day event drew enthusiastic support from the PolyU community, witnessing 294 students and staff donating 237 units of blood, with 105 being first-time donors.
In appreciation of the young blood donors who had donated at least three times before their 26th birthday, at the award presentation on 4 October, 60 students were granted the Young Donor Award by Dr Lee Cheuk-kwong, Chief Executive and Medical Director at the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, and Prof. Ben Young, Vice President (Students and Global Affairs) of PolyU.

The Student Affairs Office and the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service have been close partners in drawing campus attention to the importance of blood donation by setting up platforms for participants since 2018.
