Maestros from the China National Opera House visited PolyU on 8 May as part of their Hong Kong tour organised by the Bauhinia Cultural Group.

They performed a special concert for PolyU staff and students at the Jockey Club Auditorium, featuring eastern and western opera pieces. The concert reached its climax during the concert encore when the audience sung along with the performers.

Earlier in the day, the maestros also held a masterclass for five members of PolyU Choir at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, as well as taking part in an in-depth exchange with other participants on the technique of Chinese and Western operatic singing.

Prior to their visit to PolyU, as an indication that Hong Kong is strengthening its status as an East-meets-West hub for arts and cultural exchanges, the Opera House members had performed two concerts at the City Hall featuring a repertoire of Chinese and Western opera classics.
