PolyU and Sing Tao News Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 5 May to launch an environmental, social and governance (ESG) certification scheme to assess companies’ sustainable performance. The scheme aims to recognise those companies which have made outstanding contributions in the field of ESG and provide advice for businesses to improve their sustainable performance.

The MoU was signed by PolyU School of Accounting & Finance Head Prof. Nancy Su and Sing Tao’s Co-Chief Executive Dr Cai Jin. Under the MoU, the PolyU Center for Economic Sustainability and Entrepreneurial Finance (CESEF) will provide academic expertise while Sing Tao will leverage its media resources to further promote ESG. The duo will also roll out a series of activities including seminars and training to promote ESG awareness and practices in the city.

Prof. Su said as more companies are enhancing disclosure on climate-related information within their ESG reports, PolyU has recently launched a new master programme in ESG sustainability to nurture talent in order to help companies meet the requirements for ESG disclosure compliance.
