PolyU’s Food Safety Consortium (FSC), the Hong Kong affiliate of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), will host the 5th Asia-Pacific Food Safety International Conference (APFSIC) from 27-28 January with the support of IAFP members and affiliates across the globe. As one of IAFP’s Asia-Pacific conference series held every two to three years, the APFSIC will go virtual this year for the first time. It will continue to serve as a platform for discussion of the latest trends and challenges in food safety across the region, bringing together industry leaders, academics and government to address scientific and technical issues impacting the safety of food supply chain.

Focuses of the conference this year include current topics like innovation in food safety, capacity building for Asia Pacific, public health considerations, IT applications in food safety, harmonisation of food safety policies and standards, fostering food safety culture and many others. With a stellar line-up of keynote speakers and a series of themed panel discussions, participants will be able to acquire best practices and technical knowledge for safeguarding food safety, and exchange views and insights, in an attempt to help the food safety community tackle the complex challenges it faces.
