The PRI Research Seminar was successfully held today, covering the topic of ”High Resolution Optical Imaging Enabled by Field Engineering - from Physics to Engineering”. The PRI Research Seminar was graced by the presence of Prof. Kebin Shi, Professor of Institute of Modern Optics, School of Physics, Peking University National Bioimaging Center at Peking University, shared his valuable experience and insight with the participants.

Ir Prof. CHAN Ching-chuen, SBS, Distinguished Chair Professor of Electric Vehicles and Smart Energy and Director of the Research Centre for Electric Vehicles of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) delivered the 20th PAIR Distinguished Lecture titled “New Journey of Energy Revolution and Automotive Revolution” on 6 May 2024.

RILS: International Conference on Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Infrastructure was successfully held

The International Conference on Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Infrastructure (NBSUI) was held at Chiang Chen Studio Theatre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) from 25 to 26 April 2024. The Research Institute for Land and Space (RILS) was one of the co-organisers, and the conference had also received support from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Research Center for Artificial Intelligence in Geomatics, and Jockey Club STEM Lab of Earth Observations of PolyU. Prof. Yuhong WANG, member of RILS, and Prof. Qihao WENG, Associate Director of RILS, co-chaired the conference successfully.

Prof. Alex MIHAILIDIS of UToronto delivers a lecture on integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into elder care services

Prof. Alex MIHAILIDIS, Associate Vice President of International Partnerships at the University of Toronto delivered the 19th PAIR Distinguished Lecture titled “The Future of Elder Care: Integrating Large Language Models” on 26 April 2024. The lecture attracted about 100 participants to join in person and captivated an online viewing audience of over 14,100 from different countries and regions to watch the live broadcast on multiple social media platforms, including Bilibili, WeChat, Weibo, YouTube, etc.

Prof. CUI Zhanfeng of Oxford delivers lecture on biomedical engineering

Prof. CUI Zhanfeng, Donald Pollock Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Oxford and Founding Director of Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research, delivered the 18th PAIR Distinguished Lecture titled “Crosswalk between Engineering, Biology and Medicine” on 23 April 2024. The lecture attracted about 100 participants to join in person and captivated an online viewing audience of over 11,200 from different countries and regions to watch the live broadcast on multiple social media platforms, including YouTube, Weibo, Bilibili, etc.

The PRI Distinguished Seminar was successfully held yesterday, covering the topic of” Optical Fiber Distributed Acoustic Sensors: Challenges and Solutions”. MHRC Seminar: Choice Preferences for Mental Health Services - A Comparison between Hong Kong and China’s Mega Cities

Prof CHEN Juan shares a survey result of what are the preferred mental health services Chinese (in major cities). The seminar also covers the insights for policy decision to more effectively allocate resources in establishing and improving the mental health care systems.

Prof. LIN Jianguo of Imperial College London delivers distinguished lecture on hot stamping techniques

Prof. LIN Jianguo, Head and Professor in Mechanics of Materials Division, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Imperial College London, United Kingdom, delivered the 17th PAIR Distinguished Lecture titled “How to get high quality experimental data for hot stamping?” on 9 April 2024. The hybrid lecture attracted over 150 participants joining in person and online from more than ten countries and regions across Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. It was also broadcast live on multiple social media platforms, including YouTube, Weibo, Bilibili, etc., captivating an online viewing audience of over 12,400.
