Prof. CHAN Siew Hwa, President’s Chair in Energy and Professor in the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, Co-Director of Energy Research Institute at NTU, Senior Vice President, China-Singapore International Joint Research Institute, delivered the PAIR Public Seminar titled “Turquoise Hydrogen – A Possible Solution for Renewable Energy Scarce Countries in Energy Transition Times” in hybrid mode on 13 June 2023.

PAIR Conference 2023 commences

The PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR) Conference 2023, the first and the largest event in Hong Kong higher education dedicated to professional knowledge exchange on interdisciplinary research and development, commenced yesterday (8 May). Themed on “Research Excellence for Societal Impacts”, the four-day event draws over 100 internationally renowned scholars and experts from different disciplines as distinguished speakers to share their knowledge and insights. Prof. YAN Nieng, Founding President of the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation, delivered a plenary presentation on the frontier research of proteins that may facilitate the pharmaceutical development of pain relief solutions.

Professor Kathryn Ann MOLER delivers 7th PAIR Distinguished Lecture

In the lecture, Prof. Moler shared the experience of Stanford University in designing the university for modern research teams in the 21st century via fostering collaborative proposal writing; planning for shared capabilities in experimental facilities, data, and computation; and transforming academic structures.

RCSV and SO 45th Anniversary Joint Distinguished Lecture - “Insights from visual neuroscience on developmental dyslexia”

The RCSV and SO 45th Anniversary Joint Distinguished Lecture on “Insights from visual neuroscience on developmental dyslexia” by Prof. Deborah Giaschi was held on 23 March 2023. It attracted approximately 140 online registrants, including optometrists, practitioners, academic staff and students from 10 countries and regions.

PolyU and MCMIA co-organise university-industry collaboration forum to drive Chinese medicine innovation in the GBA

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and The Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association (MCMIA) co-organised the “University-Industry Collaboration on Chinese Medicine Innovation Forum”, bringing together over a hundred academic and industry leaders from the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to share insights on how to promote the development of Chinese medicine (CM) under the latest national plan and policies.

RISports celebrates its official establishment at an inauguration ceremony

The Inauguration Ceremony of the Research Institute for Sports Science and Technology (RISports) was held successfully on 24 February 2023, attracting over 200 PolyU staff, students, alums, athletes, industry partners and friends. The Institute was jointly launched by officiating guests, including Mr WONG Kam-po (Ah Po), former Hong Kong Olympic racing cyclist, Prof. WONG Kwok-yin, Vice President (Education) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Prof. CHEN Qingyan, Director of the PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR), Ir Prof. ZHANG Ming, Director of RISports, Prof. Lilly LI, Associate Director of PAIR, and Associate Directors of RISports including Prof. FAN Jin-tu, Prof. Amy FU and Ir Prof. WEN Chih-yung.
