Biography
Dr. Xing WANG is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his B.S. in Geo-Information Science and Technology from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and his Ph.D. in Astronomical Techniques and Methodology from the National Astronomical Observatories of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences. During his Ph.D. years at NAOC, he participated in the processing and analysis of datasets acquired by China’s Chang’E-4 and Chang’E-5 missions and contributed to the early preparation of Chang’E-5 lunar soil samples. He was also a visiting graduate student in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Brown University. Following his Ph.D., he joined PolyU as a Postdoctoral Fellow and later transitioned to his current position. His research focuses on lunar and planetary geology and spectroscopy, integrating orbital remote sensing and laboratory analyses to investigate lunar evolution, impact-basin processes, and mare volcanism. He also works on lunar samples returned by the Chang’E-5 and Chang’E-6 missions.
