On 29th November 2021, Prof. CHEN Wu, Head of LSGI and Mr. MA Hon-Wing, Wilson, Assistant Director/Development from Water Supplies Department (WSD) of HKSAR Government signed a MoU about the use of the 24,000 sq. ft Q-Leak in Tsing Yi North Service Reservoir. Designed by the Associate Head, Ir Dr. Wallace Lai of LSGI, construction of Q-Leak was completed in late July 2021, and has become the first training hub in the world for providing holistic solutions for diagnosing underground pipe leakage. Jointly with WSD, LSGI will contribute to develop technologies and artificial intelligence/machine learning approaches. The Q-Leak will be a showcase to rest of the world how underground leak can be detected and diagnosed. Two parties will also join to provide education to PolyU students, researchers and high school students through different STEM program.
