Microsoft is updating and retiring several services to better align with its product positioning. The following changes may affect users of Microsoft 365 and related services.
Retirement of Microsoft Teams Live Events
Microsoft is retiring Teams Live Events. As of 1 July 2026, new Teams Live Events can no longer be scheduled. Existing Teams Live Events that have already been scheduled will continue to run through 28 February 2027.

Retirement of SharePoint Online Alerts
SharePoint Alerts are beginning to retire in July 2026. From this time onward, the creation of new alerts will be phased out, and users may no longer be able to create new alerts in SharePoint Online. Existing alerts will continue to run until October 2026.

Microsoft recommends that users migrate their SharePoint Alerts to the Power Automate platform or, alternatively, create a SharePoint Rule.

Retirement of Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher will reach its end of life in October 2026. After that time, it will no longer be included in Microsoft 365 and existing on-premises suites will no longer be supported.
Microsoft 365 subscribers will also no longer be able to open or edit Publisher files in Publisher.
End of Support for Office LTSC 2021

Office LTSC 2021 products will reach end of support on 13 October 2026. After that, no further updates, security fixes, or technical support will be available for Office LTSC 2021.
If you are using Office LTSC 2021, you should upgrade to Office LTSC 2024 or upgrade your devices to a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 suite that includes Microsoft 365 Apps.
