The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Foundation (PolyU Foundation) hosted an Appreciation Reception on campus on 28 August 2026 to express its heartfelt gratitude to its members for their longstanding and generous support for the University’s development. The event brought together newly joined and upgraded members across various membership categories, including Honorary Life Members, Life Members, Senior Members and Ordinary Members, in a warm and gracious atmosphere.
In her remarks, Ms Fiona Cheung, Chairman of the PolyU Foundation, shared that the occasion was particularly meaningful to her, as it marked her first PolyU Foundation event attended and officiated in her capacity as Chairman since her appointment. She extended sincere thanks to members for their continued trust, support and partnership with PolyU and the PolyU Foundation, noting that every contribution reflects their encouragement and aspirations for the University’s advancement. Looking ahead, Ms Cheung expressed her hope that members would continue to support PolyU and share their valuable insights, working hand in hand with the Foundation to advance education, research and innovation for the benefit of society and a better future.
Professor Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU, also warmly welcomed the members to the campus and conveyed his sincere appreciation for the members’ steadfast support. He shared the University’s latest developments and achievements in education and research, including PolyU’s rise to 50th place globally in the QS World University Rankings 2027, its best-ever result. The milestone reflects strong international recognition of PolyU’s academic excellence, research and innovation capabilities, and overall institutional strength, further elevating its standing in the global higher education landscape.
In recognition of the members’ valuable contributions to PolyU, Professor Teng and Ms Cheung presented Certificates of Appreciation to members during the gathering. Following the reception, guests were invited to visit the University Gallery, where they gained a deeper understanding of PolyU’s heritage, milestones and future vision, and experienced first-hand the University’s enduring spirit of innovation and pursuit of excellence.
