On 17 March 2026, the PolyU Foundation held its 2026 Spring Reception, bringing together University leadership and Foundation Governing Committee members, alumni, partners, friends and supporters to welcome the season with a series of celebratory programmes. More than 300 guests attended, filling the venue with lively interaction and a festive atmosphere.
The reception opened with a ceremonial gong strike led by Dr Lam Tai fai, Chairman of the University Council; Professor Jin Guang Teng, President of the University; Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of the PolyU Foundation; and Dr Daniel Yip Chung yin, Deputy Chairman of the University Council, marking the start of the Spring Reception and wishing everyone a prosperous Year of the Horse.
Professor Jin-Guang Teng delivered the new year address, reflecting on the University’s recent developments and achievements and outlining prospects for the year ahead. Dr Sunny Chai also delivered a message highlighting the Foundation’s recent achievements, fundraising milestones and future priorities.
A string of rich and varied programmes unfolded, including a dynamic lion dance, symbolising wishes for the University to reach new heights and achieve swift success. Guests also took part in an interactive quiz, which boosted engagement and enhanced the joyous ambience. The reception also featured a traditional ceremony to welcome the Gods of Wealth, portrayed by the University Treasurer Mr Arthur Lee Kin and the PolyU Foundation Treasurer Dr Roy Chung. Guests were delighted to take photos and receive blessings, bringing the Reception an event of celebration, connection and goodwill to a close.




A colourful array of attractions including a spring-couplet writing robot from PolyU Industrial Centre, an ornate wishing tree, playful baby lions and a dramatic leading the winning horse prop were staged around the venue, creating endless photo opportunities and interactive moments. Guests queued to receive couplets from the robot, tied wishes to the tree, posed with the baby lions and joined the lead-horse procession, bringing fun, spectacle, and memorable moments to the celebration.
The event offered a vibrant mix of networking and photo opportunities, while the programme also helped guests gain a deeper understanding of PolyU’s development. A packed hall and energetic atmosphere underscored the success of the reception and the strong support of community for PolyU’s vision.
