FSN Entry Scholarships for Local Outstanding Students

The Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) accords recognition to local outstanding students admitted to our undergraduate programme. Awardees will be granted “FSN Scholarship for Local Students” (Entry Scholarships) of various amounts.

 

How to apply for the Entry Scholarship?

There is no need of students to apply separately for entry scholarships. The Department will identify outstanding admittees based on the final admission qualification, and notify them of the award separately, near/after the commencement of the academic year.

 

Who is eligible?

All Year 1 students admitted to our undergraduate programme via JUPAS, Non-JUPAS and Senior-Year Entry will be considered for the Entry Scholarships.

 

Categories of Entry Scholarships (Subject to Approval)

In addition to the University Academic Scholarships given to outstanding local JUPAS and Non-JUPAS students 1 (please refer to Study@PolyU for eligibility), one-off entry scholarships from the Department will be granted if the admittee fulfills the following categories:


Category I – Local students attain Level 5** in HKDSE subject(s)

Category II – Students’ HKDSE score for the Best 5 subjects

Category III – Local Non-JUPAS entrants of BSc (Hons) Scheme in Food Safety and Technology with Associate Degree / Higher Diploma (AD/HD) qualifications [JS3910 – Year 1 Entry]

1 Graduated from, or completed the first year of AD/HD study with adjusted GPA 3.7 or above (or equivalent)
HKD $10,000
2 Graduated from, or completed the first year of AD/HD study with adjusted GPA 3.5 or above (or equivalent)
HKD $5,000

 

Category IV – Local Non-JUPAS entrants of BSc (Hons) in Food Safety and Technology with Associate Degree / Higher Diploma (AD/HD) qualifications [15454-SY – Senior Year Entry]

Tier Requirement One-off Scholarship Amount
1 Graduated from an AD/HD with adjusted GPA 3.7 or above (or equivalent) HKD $10,000
2 Graduated from an AD/HD with adjusted GPA 3.5 or above (or equivalent) HKD $5,000

 

Category V – Local Non-JUPAS entrants with IB / GCEAL / IAL qualifications

2 35 2A + 1B HKD $10,000

3 34 - HKD $5,000

 

Notes: 
Students who meet the requirement for both Category I and II will receive the scholarship ONCE for whichever category of higher value, and capped at the maximum amount received by a student per academic year as stipulated by the University guideline.

 

Remarks:

1 Local admittees are students who do not require a student visa to study in Hong Kong.

2 The Extended Mathematics modules will also be taken into account for scholarship consideration.

3 For the purpose of calculating the admission scores, HKDSE level attainments will be converted to level points where Level 5**=8.5, 5*=7, 5=5.5, 4=4, 3=3, 2=2, 1=1 and Unclassified=0.

 

A student can concurrently hold more than one scholarship administered by the University in an academic year if the total value of scholarships received by him/her does not exceed his/her annual tuition fee payable plus an allowance of HK$50,000 unless otherwise stipulated.
